iWellness: iVue OCT
iWellness Exam is a quick, non-invasive scan that allows our doctors to see beneath the surface of the retina not visible with traditional exam methods. This breakthrough and unique technology helps our doctors detect vision threatening diseases in their very early stages when they are most treatable.
The exam is fast, easy and comfortable for patients of all ages and can provide remarkable images of the retina in seconds. The iWellness exam is able to help detect eye diseases such as Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy among many others.
This non-invasive eye exam is the new standard in eye care technology and an important addition to your regular eye exam and we are one of the few offices in the area that offers this exam! Your vision is an extremely important asset, that is why we make it our priority to have the latest technology available to our patients.
Similar to an MRI or a CT Scan, OCT provides detailed images of the retina that are not visible using standard examination techniques or other tests. This allows very early detection of sight threatening diseases.
SD-OCT has twice the resolution and is 65 times faster than previous OCT technology. This technological leap forward has been compared to the advantage that jet propulsion achieved over propeller-powered aviation.
SD-OCT (Spectral Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography) is considered one of the most important technological breakthroughs in eye care in the past decade. OCT provides detailed images of the anatomical features of the front and back of the eye, including the cornea, retina and optic disc. It also provides mapping and shows change over time to help detect disease.

EyeScreen
EyeScreen is a high-resolution screening photograph of your retina that will help us document, review and compare your retina over time. We will use the EyeScreen exam to document your retinal image for our charts, screen for eye diseases and improve our ability to view your internal retinal health at a much higher resolution than a slit lamp or ophthalmoscope.
We are concerned about retinal problems such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal holes, detachments and diabetic retinopathy (all of which can lead to partial loss of vision or blindness). Additionally many symptoms of systemic disease such as diabetes, the effects of high blood pressure and other diseases can be detected with the EyeScreen examination. The initial screening will provide us with a base line view of your internal retina so we can watch and monitor changes in your vision through the EyeScreen process and routine eye exams.

- An annual eye wellness EyeScreen Photograph.
- An in depth view of the retinal surface.
- The ability to review the images with you.
- A permanent record for your medical file, for serial analysis, comparisons and diagnosis.
- To be fast, easy and comfortable.
- Usually no dilation drops for the test. (we will inform you if they are required)
Corneal Topography: CA-800
The CA-800 corneal analyzer offers a complete solution for full diagnostic evaluation of the anterior corneal surface, as well as Meibomian Glands observation and Tear Film analysis. The CA-800 is extremely easy to handle and use. Visual signals support fast and easy alignment and focusing on the patient’s eye for quick acquisitions.
CA-800 Curvature mapping
The CA-800 Corneal analyzer is a comprehensive topographer for evaluation of the anterior corneal surface. In addition to curvature mapping which can also be displayed in 3D, it provides a complete analysis of the cornea inclusive keratoconus probability index and height map of the corneal surface. It also provides fluorescein images and real time fluorescein video's for contactlens fitting.
Pupillometry, Fluorescein & Meibography
The CA-800 is a placido-based topographer with 24 rings that measure up to 6.144 data points, with axial and instantaneous curvature evaluation. Moreover, it is equiped with 4 infrared LEDs and 2 white LEDs for Dynamic and static pupillometry and 8 blue LEDs for fluorescein images and videos to carry out full contact lens analysis. With the 4 infrared LED's Meibomian Glands can easily be analyzed for any possible defects.
Tear film breakup time analysis
The CA-800 offers a comprehensive analysis of the Tear Film by using the Blink Detection and Tear Breakup Time measuring modes. The Blink Detection records the patient blinks over a period of time. Blinks are automatically detected the average blinks per minute and blinks interval are calculated. The Tear Breakup Time (TBT) records the patients tear film condition while they hold their blink and calculates the time of first breakup and average time for breakup of the Tear Film. This feature allows video playback with a coloured overlay to show the quality of the corneal surface.
Contact lens fitting
The CA-800 is the perfect support for contact lens fitting. A simulation software is provided on-board including a complete contact lens database for all the main manufacturers (upgradable and customizable by the user). The on-board fluorescein acquisition system allows full control of the contact lens position on the eye. Thanks to the on-board pupillometer the user can check the pupil position and diameter (from photopic to scotopic condition) in relation to the position of the optical zone in Ortho-k or refractive surgery treatments.
Zernike & Toric IOL calculation
The CA-800 can be used to perform Zernike analysis to evaluate any aberrations and deficiencies of the cornea. An additional functionality of CA-800 is an on-board application for toric IOL calculation in cataract surgery. The CA-800 presents the curvature mapping of both the right and left eye at the same time on the display for easy comparison, as well as comparison with previous measured results.
CA-800 Ease of use
The CA-800 is extremely easy to handle and use. From image acquisition to analysis, the on-board software is intuitive and user-friendly and the 10.1-inch capacitive touch screen provides quick navigation. Visual guidance supports fast and easy alignment and focusing on the eye; the "best image" selection modus automatically acquires the best-focused image.

Visual Field Testing: Oculus Easyfield Perimetry
The Oculus Easy Field visual fields instrument checks the health and function of the visual pathways from the eyes back to the brain, as well as the vision portion of the brain. The instrument looks for small areas of missing vision in your visual world. These are not noticed at early stages by people because their vision in their right and left eyes overlap. Diseases that manifest losses of visual fields includes glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, stroke and pituitary tumors as well as many others. Subtle losses of visual fields may be the first sign of disease.
